IMPRESSIVE PROGRESS RECORDED IN ARMENIAN IT SECTOR IN LAST YEARS

YEREVAN, April 4. /ARKA/. Impressive progress has been recorded in the Armenian IT sector in the last years, Vice-President of Microsoft Corporation Vahe Torosian said at the international conference on information and communication technologies in Armenia held in the French Issy les Moulineaux town.

The press service of Armenia's Foreign Ministry reported that Torosian attached importance to the consistent steps taken by the Armenian Government, particularly the Agreement signed between Microsoft Corporation and the Armenian Government on January 31, 2007.

In hit turn, the Vice-President of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) American company and Scientific Director of Virage Logic company Ervand Zorian addressed the opportunities of Armenia and interest of foreign companies in the sphere.

The conference in Issy les Moulineaux was opened by the mayor of the city Andre Santini and the Armenian Ambassador to France Edvard Nalbandian.

Among the participants of the conference were Armenia's Deputy Minister of Trade and Economic Development Tigran Davtian, Assistant to President Lilit Gevorgian, representative of OSCE Yerevan Office on economic and environmental issues Jeanette Clotser, Associated Director of McKinsey (Belgium) Pierre Giurjian, Director of Enterprise Incubator Bagrat Engibarian, Director of Arminco (Armenia) Andranik Alexanian, as well as representatives of the Yerevan State University, Armenian Development Agency and others.

Presentation of a number of Armenian companies was held at the conference. Among them Aviainfotel/AIT systems, Boomerang Software/Gallery Systems, EpygiArm, Damaris è Systronics

The conference was held by the municipality of Issy les Moulineaux, Armenian Embassy to France and Armenia's Ministry of Trade and Economic Development under the Year of Armenia in France.
