European Union to Allot 15 million Euros to Armenian Education

The European Union plans to allot 15 million Euros for the advancement of middle school eductation in Armenia. This was revealed today at the "Friday" club by middle school spokesman of the education ministry, Samvel Biboyan. According to him, the money will basically be spent for the overhaul of several middle school programs and the advancement of new technologies. Concerning the issue of teacher salaries, he pointed out that by 2008 the salaries would increase by five thousand drams, reaching 30 thousand drams per month, and that by 2009 this amount would reach 90 thousand drams. Biboyan also underlined that 3.5 thousand kindergarten teachers would need to requalify themselves so as to reach international standards.
