Craig Barrett granted President’s award for Outstanding Contribution to Global IT

Craig Barrett the former Chairman of the Board of Intel Corporation and Chairman of Intel’s Board of Directors arrives in Armenia on Sunday to receive the Award of the President of Republic of Armenia for Outstanding Contribution to Global Information Technologies (Global IT Award), Gayane Markosyan, the speaker of “Synopsys” company told Panorama.am.

Global IT Award is scheduled on June 28. The Award is granted on annual basis according to President Serzh Sargsyan’s July 6, 2009 issued Decree on Outstanding Contribution to Global Information Technologies (Global IT Award).

“The award highlights Armenia on the world IT map as a growing high-tech destination,” Gayane Markosyan said adding the award is granted a laureate a Laureate whose internationally acclaimed contributions to IT have resulted in near-revolutionary or revolutionary developments.

According to Markosyan, the contributions may be in the technological, educational, organizational, or financial areas.

Craig Barrett pays very first visit to Armenia accompanied by his spouse.

“Interl” has had its impact on the global life of human beings and Armenian President’s Award is to recognize the contribution of that person and to link Armenia with the name of that famous person and eminent company,” Ms. Markosyan said.

Other IT specialists are supposed to arrive in Armenia, including Kaan Terzioglu the Vice president of Cisco systems and John Davids, Vice President of Interl Company.
