The winners of the New Wave-2010 song contest for young pop singers have been unveiled in Jurmala, Latvia.
Armenian singer Sona Shakhgeldyan has won the first place, while Tatyana Shirko of Ukraine and Estonian Uku Suviste came second and third respectively.
Competition prize fund is Euro 100 000 with Euro 50 000 granted for the first place, and Sona Shakhgeldyan is granted the largest sum. Euro 30 and 20 thousand are granted for second and third places respectively.
“A part of the prize I’ll spent on helpless and homeless animals, and the rest I’ll spent myself,” Sona said.
The “New Wave” contes is traditionally held on July 27-August 1. Seventeen performers from 12 countries took part in it this year.
