Former world chess champion Vladmir Kramnik spoke about World Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansysk.
“We long for a victory,” Kramnik told “Sport Express” reporter: “It’s very important personally for me since according to the modern chess standards I’m a retired player and I don’t know how long I’ll be allowed to play. I wish I win this Olympiad. But to tell the truth we should acknowledge that our rivals are really powerful. Ukrainian group appeared in its best format.
So we don’t have much privilege. Talking about a great privilege is impossible in the modern chess world. Armenian team is traditionally strong. Chinese team is also advancing. Nobody can say who will win, much depends on the very last step.”
