VivaCell-MTS and Medical University announce the launch of Mobile-Health solution pilot project
VivaCell-MTS, a subsidiary of “Mobile TeleSystems” OJSC, has assumed the general sponsorship of the Third Medical Congress of Armenia that took place in Yerevan State Medical University on July 7-8. In addition to sponsoring the event, VivaCell-MTS together with Yerevan State Medical University presented Mobile-Health innovative solution, based on Ericsson M-Health wireless technologies aimed at creating a new improved means to provide population with better access to health care services.
Innovations in all essential sphere of social life, and especially in the health care, are in the focus of attention of Armenia’s Leading Mobile Operator.
The M-Health is most commonly used in reference to using mobile communication devices, such as mobile phones in health care services provision. For the first time in Armenia VivaCell-MTS has made the Mobile Health solution available to the medical body in the country. The solution enables distance monitoring of patients health condition by their doctors. Patients will be able to conduct medical measurements at home and instantly send health-related data remotely via VivaCell-MTS network to their doctors for monitoring using special mobile health equipment. This will mean both convenience and fast follow up on patient’s situation. Together with the Yerevan Medical State University, the mobile health equipment will be put in use as of September as a pilot project, at the pilot site of Yerevan Medical State University.
In developed countries Mobile-Health solutions have wide application in providing better access to healthcare and health-related information as well as in improving ability to diagnose and track diseases by providing much better capacity to service providers. M-Health technologies still have a huge unrealized potential to address global challenges in the healthcare.

Fighting the development of diseases threatening the humankind and providing the health of the generations, are of particular importance to VivaCell-MTS as a corporate citizen. Piloting and successful roll-out of M-Health is critical for attaining long-term objectives set in the sphere of public health. This is an important milestone toward strengthening Armenia’s competitive advantage in health care in the whole region.
During the congress various experts from Armenia and other countries presented on a variety of healthcare issues. Several tracks were organized for different narrow specialties.
VivaCell-MTS’ M-Health solution was demonstrated at VivaCell-MTS pavilion next to the conference hall. The equipment demonstrated includes spirometer, blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeter, and the communication device gathering data from different sensors via Bluetooth Connection and transmitting through the VivaCell-MTS network to back-end system and server. The system also includes web application for medical providers.
