President attends opening ceremony of Gavar Medical Center

As part of his working visit to Gegharkunik, President Serzh Sargsyan attended the opening ceremony of a Medical Center in Gavar town.

The medical center’s optimization was implemented within the framework of the World Bank’s Health System Modernization Project.

Minister of Health Harutyun Kushkyan noted that as a result of cooperation between the Armenian government and the World Bank, 7 large medical centers were opened in the Armenian regions during the past two years – in Hrazdan, Ijevan, Armavir and other towns. The Minister said that in line with the President’s instructions, the medical centers of Kapan, Sevan, Berd, and Abovyan will be renovated in 2012, a new hospital will be built in Vanadzor, and the newly built hospital will be put into operation in Gyumri next April already.
