Armenian team becomes Olympic champion in Turkey

Armenian national chess team beat Hungarian team 2.5-1.5 in the last round of the 40th World Chess Olympiad in Istanbul.

Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sargissian and Vladimir Akopian drew with Peter Leko, Ferenc Berkes and Judit Polgár respectively. Sergei Movsesian beat Zoltán Almási to secure Armenia’s victory against Hungary.

Russian team finished second with 19 points. Armenian team won the tiebreaker against Russia and became Olympic champion.
