Haykakan Zhamanak: Supermarkets absolutely dominate small shops in Yerevan

180 supermarkets operate in Yerevan only, and 55 of them are owned by 7 companies, Haykakan Zhamanak writes. STAR has the largest network with 30 shopping centers, while Yerevan City supermarkets have the largest trade volume.

73.4 percent of Armenian consumers prefer to do shopping in supermarkets, according to studies by MPG LLC, the exclusive
representative of Gallup International Association in Armenia. This proves that supermarkets, mainly owned by oligarchs, absolutely dominate small shops in Yerevan, the paper writes.
