Varuzhan Akopian wins World Open

Armenian GM Varuzhan Akopian (U.S.) scored 6.5 points out of 9 and won first prize at the World Open 2013 in Arlington, United States. 

Nine other grandmasters had the same results. An Armageddon play-off game was held between the two players with the best tiebreak results - Varuzhan Akopian and Yuniesky Quesada (Cuba). The Armenian chess player, with black pieces, tied the game and became the winner of the World Open, armchess.am reported.
