Zhoghovurd: Draft amnesty decree not ready yet

Reports of amnesty on occasion of Armenia’s independence anniversary are neither confirmed nor refuted officially, Zhoghovurd says. 

On August 29, Zhoghovurd published a report saying that President Serzh Sargsyan plans to announce a large-scale amnesty. The President was expected to address the National Assembly during the upcoming four-day session in this connection. However, the paper’s sources in parliament say that the parliament has not received a proposal of amnesty.

According to the paper’s presidential sources, the document is not ready yet, and is still being developed.
