Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan chaired a consultation on the development of the IT sector.
The PM noted that the IT sector is among the priorities of the Armenian government, and given its great potential, the government is ready to assist the progress of the IT sector and implementation of IT programs.
A draft program developed by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises was presented during the consultation. It proposes creating engineering labs in the general education system through launching a large-scale program of training specialists.
The draft authors offer to launch the program in Armenian provinces. The program is expected to prepare qualified specialists for the sector, enhance cooperation between the state and the private sector and ensure science-production links.
The Prime Minister welcomed the idea and instructed to discuss the program with the relevant departments.
