Azerbaijan makes cross-border infiltration attempt; One Armenian soldier killed, another injured

Azerbaijani forces tried to infiltrate the Armenian defense positions in the direction of Karvachar at the Line of Contact between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan around 3:00 am on January 21, the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Ministry reported. 

The frontline units of the NKR Defense Army reacted in time, and threw the enemy back to their initial positions. The Azerbaijani side suffered losses.

A Karabakh serviceman, Nahapet Asatryan, 32, was killed during the fighting.

Hovhannes Gasparyan, 41, was wounded.

An investigation is underway.

The NKR Defense Ministry shares the grief of the loss and extends sympathy to Nahapet Asatryan’s family, relatives, and fellow servicemen.
