Kremlin hopes to continue cooperation with Turkey despite Erdogan's statement — spokesman

The Kremlin hopes that Russian-Turkish cooperation will continue despite the Turkish president's statements regarding Vladimir Putin's participation in the ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday, TASS reported.

"We hope that the further development of comprehensive cooperation is a priority [for Turkey]," Peskov said.

He said Russia and Turkey had many joint projects and should continue developing their relations.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier on Monday he is upset with the fact that Russian and French Presidents Vladimir Putin and Francois Hollande attended the ceremony in Yerevan commemorating the 100th anniversary of mass killings of Armenians under the Ottoman Empire.

Vladimir Putin has been informed of the statement by the Turkish president.
