President Sargsyan receives Georgian ministers: New partnership areas outlined

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received on June 26 Georgia’s Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani and Minister of Corrections, Probation and Legal Assistance Georgi Mgebrishvili, the presidential press service reports.

S. Sargsyan welcomed the guests and the holding of the first Armenian-Georgian legal cooperation forum with their participation. He noted with satisfaction that the high level of political dialog and cooperation of the two countries in various fields deepen year by year. This creates serious prerequisites for outlining new areas of partnership, the president stressed.

In this context the president underlined the importance of relations established between the Armenian and Georgian ministries representing justice and expressed hope the legal cooperation forum will be held on a regular basis and promote the development and strengthening of Armenian-Georgian friendly ties.

The president once again expressed his support for the friendly people of Georgia over devastating flooding in Tbilisi. He expressed hope the Georgian government and city authorities of Tbilisi will do their best to deal with the consequences. Serzh Sargsyan stated Armenia’s readiness to assist the Georgian people in case of necessity.

At the meeting S. Sargsyan emphasized Armenia’s willingness to develop and deepen Armenian-Georgian interstate relations in new conditions – after Armenia joined the Eurasian Economic Union and Georgia signed the Association Agreement with the EU.
The Georgian ministers said they intend to retain the established format of cooperation in the sphere and make such forums traditional.
