German Constitutional Court confirms appeal against resolution on Armenian Genocide

Head of the Press and Public Relations Department and Press Spokesperson of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany, Michael Allmendinger confirmed the news concerning receiving an appeal against the resolution on the Armenian Genocide.

“The Federal Constitutional Court has received a Constitutional Complaint against the so called "Armenia Resolution", adopted by the Bundestag on June 2, 2016․

Further information is not available at the moment. Please note, that because of privacy protection I can't provide you the name of the complainer,” Dr Michael Allmendinger told Panorama.am.

Earlier, it was reported that Turkish lawyer, Melih Akkurt appealed to German Constitutional Court to revoke the resolution on Armenian Genocide recognition by the Bundestag.

As the Deutsche Welle wrote, the lawyer noted that according to Article 6 of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, only courts have the right for any decision concerning genocide.
