Carpet, knitwear production continues dropping in Armenia

Volumes of the carpet, and carpet coverings production has decreased by 48.1%in the first semester of 2016 as compared to the same period of the previous years.

The National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia (NSS) informs that in January-June of 2015, 23.7 tons of carpets and carpet coverings have been produced in the republic, while the number is 12.3 % tons for the indicated period of this year.

As to knitwear production, in January - Jane 2016, 1 494.2 thousand articles have been manufactured in Armenia, compared to 1 732.0 thousand articles of the same period in 2015. Overall, the knitwear production has decreased by 13.7 % in Armenia.

According to NSS, for the indicated period only hosiery production increased by 2.6 times. 8 689.9 thousand pairs have been produced in January - June 2016, compared to 3 356.6 thousand pairs manufactured for the indicated period in 2015.
