European Chess Championships: Armenian men’s team beats the Netherlands

The Armenian men’s chess team beat the Netherlands 2.5-1.5 at the fourth round of the European Team Chess Championships underway in Crete, Greece.

According to the National Olympic Committee, Gabriel Sargsyan and Hrant Melkumyan outplayed their opponents at this round, while Sergey Movsisyan suffered a defeat. The leader of the Armenian chess team, Levon Aronian drew his game.

To note, the European Team Chess Championship is held from October 27 until November 7 in Hersonissos, Crete, Greece.

The tournament is played according to the Swiss System in nine rounds, with one open section and one section for the women’s teams, each considered as separate competitions. According to ECU and FIDE rules, the time control will be 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30 seconds increment for every move played starting from the move one.
