Armenia’s consumer market sees price cut in May: statistics

Consumer prices in Armenia fell by 1% in May compared to March 2018, the country's National Statistical Service (NSS) told Panorama.am, adding the decline is mainly prompted by the 2.8% deflation in food and non-alcoholic drinks.

According to the latest figures, for the indicated period food prices (including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco) decreased by 2.5%, while the prices for non-food products and services increased by 0.1% and 0.2% respectively.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 101.6% in May this year, making up 99.9% – for food products, 105.2% – for non-food products and 101.7% for – services, the service said.

Consumer prices dropped by 1.2-0.6% in all the Armenian cities under study in the reporting period, with the highest price drop rates registered in Yerevan, Vanadzor and Artashat cities.
