Vehicles accumulated at Upper Lars checkpoint on both sides of the border

Deputy Minister at Armenia’s Ministry of Transport and Communication Armen Pambukhchyan explains the accumulation of vehicles at Lars checkpoint at the Georgian-Russian border with summer season and large number of people heading for Georgia’s Batumi resort.

As he informed on his Facebook page, currently dozens of vehicles are stuck along a 5-kilometer stretch of the road on the Russian side of the border. In his words, it takes five hours per car in average to cross the border. On the Georgian side of the border the row of cars stretches 2 km long.

The Deputy Minister has also shared a hot line (+374 (10) 59-01-04) at Armenia’s ministry of transport and communication for citizens in case of emergencies.
