The Armenian National Assembly unanimously adopted in the first reading the new draft law on granting criminal amnesty at today’s special session.
A total of 72 lawmakers voted in favor of the amnesty bill, with no votes against or abstentions.
The measure is dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan and the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia.
If passed, the bill will apply to nearly 6,500 convicts – the largest amnesty in Armenia over the past few years.
