Parliamentary elections: What early polls tell us

95% of Armenia’s electorate know that the country is holding snap parliamentary elections in December, with 91,4% of the voters aware of the exact day of elections, according to a public opinion survey conducted by MPG – a full member of the Gallup International Association in Armenia.

The early polls predicted that the My Step bloc led by Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan would garner 69,4% of the popular vote, MPG Director Aram Navasardyan told reporters on Thursday, presenting the results of the survey conducted with 1,100 people.

5.7% of the respondents said they would vote for the Prosperous Armenia Party, 3.8% – for the Bright Armenia party, 1.4% – for the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoun) party, 1.3% – for the Republican Party of Armenia, 1.2% – for the ARF, 0.8%  – for the We bloc, 0.4%  – for the Rule of Law party, 0.3% – for the Citizen’s Decision Social-Democratic party and 0.1% unveiled their intention to vote for the National Progress party. None of the survey respondents voiced support to the Christian-Democratic Revival party at the early elections.

Navasardyan said 8,7% of the surveyed voters didn’t reply to the question, while 7% found it a difficult question to answer. He also stressed the rating system may significantly affect the figures of the survey.

Commenting on a question by Panorama.am whether Gallup plans to conduct an exit poll in Armenia on 9 December, the director gave a negative reply, adding they conducted exit polls in Armenia only once during the 2012 parliamentary elections, with the survey results being very close to the election outcomes.
