Axe-wielding man subdued by bank security officer in Armenia

An axe-wielding man has been neutralized after attacking a bank in downtown Yerevan, police said.

The man armed with an axe entered the VTB Bank’s branch on Baghramyan Avenue, police officers revealed while responding to a call received at 3:50pm.

Officers arrested the assailant after he had been subdued by the on-duty police officer of the bank.

An investigation is ongoing. No injuries were reported.
