Exhibition of one painting by Minas to open at museum in his home village

As part of the Museum Night 2019 an exhibition of an artwork and personal belongings of  Minas Avetisyan, a renowned Armenian painter of the 20th century will open on May 18 at his museum in Jajur village, in north of Armenia. The exhibition features one painting named “Jajur” from the family collection featuring the home village of the great painter. Apart from the painting, a hall in the museum with the personal belongings of the painter will be open to public. 
 
As Director at Minas Avetisyan Museum, the son of the painter Arman Avetisyan told Panorama.am, the painting is displayed for the first time in Armenia as it   
was brought to Yerevan from Tretyakov Gallery where it had been kept for the past 30 years. The painting had been transported to Moscow during the Soviet period as part of the policy to showcase famous artworks around the country and “Jajur” painting since than never brought back. Avetisyan added the painting will be on display only for one day. 
 
To note, Museum Night is an annual cultural event when museums and cultural institutions stay open late into the night and the entrance is free. Visitors are given an entrance pass, which gives an opportunity to enter any museum, which takes part in museum night event.
