EPP chief: Armenian authorities must guarantee independence of judiciary

Armenian authorities must guarantee the independence of the justice system, President of the European People’s Party (EPP) Joseph Daul said on Twitter.

“In view of the calls for a radical reform of Armenia’s judiciary, Armenian authorities must guarantee that any reform will prioritize the independence of the justice system as a key principle of a democratic society,” he tweeted.

The EPP chief stressed the rule of law and the separation of powers must be respected in the country.
