Azerbaijani journalist detained on charges of state treason

A journalist is arrested in Azerbaijan on charges of treason, the country’s State Security Service reported, according to RIA Novosty report. 

 

The source cites the state agency saying that “during the course of operational and investigative measures, the citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, founder, and editor-in-chief of “Xeberman.com” and “Press.az” websites Aslanov Polad, born in 1989, was detained on being suspected of state treason.” 

 

Investigation is underway with no further details disclosed.
