Davit Sanasaryan again denies any wrongdoing

Davit Sanasaryan, the former head of Armenia’s State Oversight Service indicted in a corruption probe, took to Facebook to again deny all accusations after the criminal case involving the ex-official was sent to the court on Thursday.

“Confirming the fabricated charges by the Prosecutor’s Office and sending [the case] to the court does not yet prove their validity. I will simply repeat myself that I deny all the accusations,” he said, promising to speak more on the matter at a news conference.

The case has been assigned to judge Davit Balayan.

Sanasaryan had earlier filed a motion to the National Security Service (NSS) to drop charges against him, but the law-enforcement agency turned it down.

The NSS indicted Sanasaryan as part of the investigation into alleged corrupt practices within the anti-corruption agency. It arrested two other senior officials of the State Oversight Service, saying they colluded with a company linked to them in order to ensure its victory in a state procurement of equipment for three medical facilities.

The security service said that it has collected sufficient evidence to charge Sanasaryan with an abuse of official power for personal interests.
