Armenian law enforcement officers find fugitive prisoner who escaped Yerevan hospital

Armenian law enforcement agencies have found a fugitive convict of the Nubarashen Penitentiary who escaped Erebouni Medical Center in Yerevan on 18 November.

Arayik Sargsyan, 31, was tracked down and recaptured in Yerevan on Thursday as a result of large-scale joint investigative actions taken by the National Security Service (NSS) and Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, the NSS said in a statement.

The inmate nicknamed “Mowgli” was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison for theft.

He had previously been convicted seven times.
