Armenian GM wins int’l tournament in Spain

Armenian grandmaster GM Karen Grigoryan has won the Torneo Magistral Internacional de Elgoibar, an international tournament in Spain.

In the 8th round, the Armenian player defeated Shalmali Gagare of India to take the first spot with 6.5 points, the National Olympic Committee reported.

Before the ultimate round the chess players sharing the 2nd-5th places have collected 5 points apiece.

In the 9th round Armenian GM will play with white pieces against Juan Plazuelo of Spain.
