Former President of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Avan and Nor Nork Administrative Districts of Yerevan Samvel Uzunyan has been declared wanted by authorities on corruption charges. As Advisor to the Prosecutor General Gor Abrahamyan told RFE/RL's Armenian Service, Uzunyan has left the country through Zvartnots airport on a flight reportedly leaving for Russia.
As reported earlier, the Supreme Judicial Council approved the Prosecutor’s General motion to open criminal proceedings against the 65-year-old Samvel Uzunyan, who has been the presiding judge of the October 27 case.
According to the preliminary investigation held by Special Investigation Service Samvel Uzunyan had taken bribes in Armenian drams equivalent to $51,000 in two episodes.
