Criminal case launched into soldier’s death in Artsakh

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is probing the death of a contract soldier of the Artsakh Defense Army.

Lieutenant Hayk Asryan, 23, was found dead with a gunshot wound to his forehead in an eastern military post on Friday evening.

A criminal case has been launched under Article 110.1 of Armenia Criminal Code (causing someone to commit suicide), the Investigative Committee said in a statement on Saturday.

A preliminary investigation is underway.

Necessary measures are being taken to ensure a comprehensive and objective investigation of the case, the committee said.
