Artsakh observes pre-election silence ahead of general elections

The Republic of Artsakh is observing pre-election silence on Monday ahead of the presidential and parliamentary elections slated for Tuesday, March 31.

Under the country’s Electoral Code pre-election campaigning and political advertising are banned the day before the vote. On the day of silence, candidates and parties are not allowed to hold rallies, meetings or distribute leaflets.

A total of 10 candidates are running for president in Artsakh, while 10 parties and 2 alliances are taking part in the National Assembly elections.

According to Artsakhpress, more than 200 representatives from around 40 media outlets have been accredited at the Central Electoral Commission of Artsakh to cover the general elections.
