Situation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border relatively calm since midnight

The escalation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border has gradually decreased starting from 6pm Tuesday, Head of the Command and Staff Faculty after Marshal H. Baghramyan at Military University after Vazgen Sargsyan, former Ministry of Defense spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan told a briefing on Wednesday.

“Shootings have gradually reduced,” he said, adding the situation has been relatively calm since midnight, with no large weapons and artillery equipment used throughout the night.

He said that earlier on Tuesday the Armenian air defense forces shot down two Azerbaijan UAVs that fell in the no man’s land.

“The situation has been calm since then,” he said, adding the situation on the Artsakh-Azerbaijan contact line was also relatively calm at night.

Asked whether a ceasefire agreement has been reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Hovhannisyan said he does not have clear information on a possible agreement, adding as a matter of fact the activity falls at night.

“If we have such information, we will definitely make it public,” he added.

Hovhannisyan stressed the Armenian Armed Forces have been performing their tasks brilliantly, adding there is no need to mobilize reserve solders or volunteers.

“We belive that the volunteers are ready and we are thankful to them, but at this phase their sons and grandsons are brilliantly performing their tasks,” he added.

In Hovhannisyan’s words, the Azerbaijani army have used almost all types of weapons in its arsenal with a few exceptions, including firearms of all calibers, tanks, artillery weapons and combat drones.
