Azerbaijan to open embassy in Vatican

Azerbaijan's Milli Mejlis (parliament) passed a bill on Friday to open the country's embassy in the Vatican, TASS reported.

"To establish an embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Holy See," reads the document published on the parliament's website.

Heads of the Roman Catholic Church twice visited Azerbaijan: Pope John Paul II visited Baku in 2002 and Pope Francis – in 2016.
