Russian peacekeepers carry out mine clearance in Artsakh’s Martakert

The servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent have started clearing explosive ordnance from the territory of the settlement of Martakert in Artsakh’s (Nagorno-Karabakh) Martakert district. 

Every day, near the demarcation line in the Martakert district, Russian peacekeepers carry out work to search for unexploded ordnance, shells, shots and mines. The military personnel of the humanitarian demining unit perform tasks to clean up settlements and nearby territories intended for agricultural land and livestock grazing, the Defense Ministry of Russia reported on Monday.

In total, since November 23, 2020, engineering and sapper groups of the Russian peacekeeping contingent have cleared 2,322.1 hectares of territory, 683 km of roads, 1,937 buildings from unexploded ordnance, 26,078 explosive objects have been found and neutralized.
