Armenian soldier killed in Azerbaijani gunfire

An Armenian serviceman was killed in Azerbaijani shooting late on Monday, the Defense Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday, citing preliminary data.

The conscript, identified as Arman Sargsyan (b. 2002), suffered a fatal gunshot wound at his combat position in the eastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, it said.

The Investigative Committee is probing the incident.

The Defense Ministry expresses condolences to Sargsyan’s family and fellow soldiers, the statement said.
