Opposition seeks no-confidence vote to oust Pashinyan

The two opposition factions in the Armenian parliament, Hayastan and Pativ Unem, seek a motion of no-confidence in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Under the Armenian Constitution, a vote of no-confidence must be held no sooner than 48 hours and no later than 72 hours after the motion is submitted.

A majority of MPs must vote for a no-confidence motion for it to be successful.

The opposition announced the launch of the no-confidence initiative as thousands of protesters took to the streets in Yerevan late on Wednesday, accusing Pashinyan of planning unacceptable concessions to Azerbaijan and demanding his ouster.
