Armenia's SJC suspends judge Arusyak Aleksanyan

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) overseeing Armenian courts has suspended judge Arusyak Aleksanyan pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings against her, the judicial watchdog said in a statement on Thursday.

The SJC gave the greenlight for the judge’s prosecution and arrest sought by Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan with respect to the exercise of her powers on 17 October.

Arusyak Aleksanyan is accused of making an illegal decision in a trial presided over by her.
