Lawmaker: Azerbaijanis trying to pitch tents on blocked Artsakh-Armenia road

A group of Azerbaijanis, who have blocked the Stepanakert-Goris highway connecting Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) to Armenia since Monday morning on ostensibly environmental grounds, are trying to set up tents there to keep it closed longer, Armenian MP Tigran Abrahamyan says.

In a social media post, Abrahamyan, who represents the opposition Pativ Unem faction, called the road close a fresh provocation by the Azerbaijani special services.

“The road remains closed at the moment, while the Azerbaijanis are attempting to pitch tents there in an effort to extend the blockade of the road,” he wrote.
