21 patients, including 11 kids, in intensive care in Artsakh hospitals amid blockade

Scheduled surgeries remain suspended in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) hospitals to save medicine amid the ongoing Azerbaijani blockade of the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, the country’s Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday.

11 children are currently in intensive care in the Arevik Medical Center. The four-month-old baby suffering from visceral leishmaniasis, who was evacuated to Armenia through the mediation efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Saturday, remains in a specialized medical center in Yerevan. The baby boy’s condition is stabilizing.

“7 patients, including 5 critically ill, are in the resuscitation unit of the Republican Medical Center. The doctors are doing their utmost to stabilize the condition of the patients,” the ministry said.

“The Artsakh Republic Ministry of Health is taking all possible measures to properly overcome the situation in the aftermath of the blockade,” it added.
