ICRC helps transfer three seriously ill patients from Artsakh to Armenia

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has facilitated the transfer of three severely ill patients from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia amid the blockade imposed by Azerbaijan, the Artsakh Ministry of Health reported.

The patients were taken to specialized hospitals in Armenia on Saturday, escorted by an ICRC team. They include a 2-month-old baby diagnosed with Down syndrome, as well as a leukemia patient, the ministry said in a statement.

For more than three weeks, large groups of Azerbaijanis posing as eco-activists have blocked the Lachin corridor, the sole road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world, to protest what they claim is illegal mining.
