Magnitude 5.6 quake hits Iran, tremors felt in Armenia

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck northwestern Iran on Wednesday.

The quake was 20 km northeast of the city of Salmas and at a depth of 10 km, the Rescue Service of Armenia’s Interior Ministry reported.

The tremors were also felt in Armenia, particularly in Syunik, Vayots Dzor, Ararat and Armavir Provinces as well as the capital Yerevan, measured at 2-4.
