Drivers warned over snow, ice in parts of Armenia

Some roads are closed or difficult to pass in Armenia as of Friday morning, the Rescue Service reports.

In particular, the roads linking the Amberd high mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and Lake Kari in Aragatsotn Province are shut down.

Vardenyats Pass is difficult to pass for trucks with trailers.

Roadways of the Aragats region are partly icy.

Snowfall is reported in the town of Spitak.

According to the Department of Emergency Situations of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center (CMC) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi highway connecting Armenia and Russia via Georgia is open to all traffic.

Drivers are strongly urged to use winter tires.
