Inmate announces indefinite hunger strike over detention of fallen soldier’s mother

Convict Robert Movsisyan has announced an indefinite hunger strike to show support for Gayane Hakobyan, the mother of Armenian soldier Zhora Martirosyan killed in the 2020 Artsakh war.

The inmate’s statement addressed to the Vardashen Penitentiary head was published by activist Narek Mantashyan on Friday.

Hakobyan was detained on suspicion of threatening and attempting to “kidnap” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s son, Ashot Pashinyan, on Wednesday.
