Mane Tandilyan joins Yerevan mayoral race

The Country to Live (Aprelu Yerkir) party has nominated Mane Tandilyan, a former labor minister, as its candidate for Yerevan mayor, the party’s senior member, Tigran Sahakyan, announced on Thursday.

Speaking at a news conference in Yerevan, he said the decision was made following multiple meetings and discussions with Yerevan residents and surveys conducted in recent months. The party members also backed her candidacy, Sahakyan added.

“We believe that the political forces must have serious programs for the local self-government bodies as well, take responsibility and ensure community development,” he stressed.

"Participation and victory in the elections is our bid for leading sweeping and irreversible changes in the country," Sahakyan said.

The next municipal elections in Yerevan have been slated for September 17.
