'With little Garik, I forget I'm 60', says fallen soldier's mother

Gohar and Gevorg Davtyan lost their only son Garik in the 2020 Artsakh war.

The 60-year-old woman decided to have a baby boy no matter what. The baby was named Garik after his hero brother.

"It was the only way out... Little Garik is a part of his elder brother. With him, I forget I'm 60. There are moments when I forget about everything with him," Mrs. Gohar says.

The baby was born via surrogate.

Garik's father says before the baby was born, the grief-stricken woman had been constantly crying.

"Now the baby takes up all her time," the man adds.
