Aliyev refuses to meet with 'pro-Armenian' FM of Belgium

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has refused to meet with Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib due to her “pro-Armenian position”, according to Azerbaijani media reports.

The reports suggest that while on a visit to Armenia, Lahbib made “far-from-reality pro-Armenian statements that do not correspond to the situation in the region.”

The Belgian foreign minister will arrive in Azerbaijan today as part of a visit to the region.

During her Armenia trip on 22 August, Lahbib met with her Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, as well as the country's prime minister and parliament speaker.
