Court refuses to freeze Armen Ashotyan's assets

The Anti-Corruption Court in Yerevan has rejected a bid to freeze the assets of jailed opposition politician Armen Ashotyan, his lawyer Tigran Atanesyan said on Wednesday.

“I am convinced that Armen will eventually be released and acquitted,” he wrote on Facebook.

Ashotyan, the deputy head of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), was arrested on 16 June on charges of abuse of power and money laundering strongly denied by him as politically motivated.
