Armenian Defense Ministry reports soldier's death

An Armenian soldier was killed in yet unknown circumstances on Tuesday, the Defense Ministry of Armenia reported.

The serviceman, who suffered fatal gunshot wounds at around 7:50 p.m., was identified as Aleks Avanesyan.

An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.

The Defense Ministry offers condolences to the deceased soldier's family and friends.

The 20-year-old was from the village of Getamej in Armenia’s Kotayk Province. He had no siblings and lived with his mother and grandmother, News.am reported.
