Armenia's Hakob Mkrtchyan finishes 6th at World Weightlifting Championships

Armenia’s Hakob Mkrtchyan finished sixth at the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 4 to 17 September.

The European champion took the sixth place after lifting a total of 372 kg (164+208) in the 96 kg event on Wednesday.

Two-time European champion Davit Hovhannisyan came 9th with a combined total of 368 kg (168+200) in the same weight category, the sports ministry said.

The championship is a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
